Training again
1:08:09 = 10K
Today I started to train for my next half marathon: Lost Dutchman Half in Apache Junction AZ on Feb. 19, 2012. I’m already meandering from my specific goals; I was supposed to do a 7K long slow run but it felt so good, I kept going to the 10K mark. Very little in the way of pain or fatigue, altho when I started I noticed a 6:39 pace, and during the 9th km I looked at my...
Another 5K
At the risk of sounding really boring, compared with what’s going on in Arkansas, I thought I’d post my time.
5K = 31:55
Yes, I did a sub-32. That’s very good for me! I pushed myself a bit more than usual, based on one of melanieisdoinglife posts. I can’t remember her exact words, but I do remember being inspired to ramp it up a notch and push myself a bit. Actually, I...
Hooked
I didn’t want to run today. In fact, when I posted earlier, I was going to end it with “… and now I gotta get out there and run” — you know, just to make me feel accountable — but I didn’t. Just in case I did NOT get out there and run. But I did it, I ran. Just started putting on my running clothes, did some warmups, grabbed my music and my water bottle...
Not a marathon
It happened again. I ran into someone I hadn’t seen in awhile, someone who knew I liked to run. She asked, “Didn’t you just run a marathon or something?”
I so hate that question! Because I did the “or something ” part. I just recently ran a Half marathon. Note: I did not say I ran JUST a half marathon.
My problem with this is, if I go to correct her, it...
Thanks, Tony

Slow easy run. One stop to adjust Garmin, another to adjust left sock.
Oh, and I wore my Asics.
When I was doing my post-run stretching, the TV was on in the background but I wasn’t paying much attention until I heard Dallas quarterback Tony Romo making a comment. He was golfing, and said that no matter what the sport, people need to have a strong belief in themselves. Even...
Biking, running, shoes. . .
11.5K bike = 42 min
3K run = 20 min
1 hr + of good exercise, yay!
Because I didn’t go first thing today, I ended up procrastinating as usual. Then I read John Stanton’s Facebook comment: Run, you will feel better… skip a run, you feel worse …now are you ready to run?
Thanks again, John!
I walked for about five minutes after cycling, but it was still hard to get into a good...
Getting started again
5K = 34:10
Just did a slow easy run today, no pressure to beat a time or do a hill, just get back out there. I’m finished gallivanting for now, back home after an eight-hour drive to visit some precious family members. The exercise I got while there was in the form of jogging while pushing a stroller, climbing a few hills, and biking around with 30 lbs of trouble behind me. Yes, I have...
11/11/11
I don’t know what numerologists say about the number 11, but last year I found extra meaning in running a Half on 10/10/10, gotta do something special on these days, right? So on Nov 11th I’ve decided I’m going to run 11K. I don’t see a run posted anywhere online, nothing nearby for sure, not even the Running Room which usually has all kinds of races, so I’m going to...
I’m off galavanting again. A week ago today I ran the Victoria half, and I’ve only had one 4k run since then. I’m kinda feeling at loose ends, restless, wanting to run but feeling odd about it because I have no specific goal race to train for. I want so badly to just get out there and run just for the pure joy of running, but I’m not feelin it yet! I’ll be back home...
My version of the Victoria half
I am home, I am happy, I can’t believe I finished the half marathon in 2:28:47! After a couple of weeks of pain, I was afraid to think about not being able to finish, but to me it was a real possibility. The pain in my hip hasn’t diminished, in fact because I didn’t stretch after the run and there was that dreaded lactic acid build-up, I am in worse pain than ever. But for some...
lauracait asked: Awesome job today! :) It was nice meeting you. Take advantage of the sun!!
melanieisdoinglife asked: Good luck on your half marathon tomorrow! I hope everything is awesome!
Sub 2:30 OMG!!!!!!!!
It was great running with the Do Life people tonight! My aches & pains weren’t too bad when I was running… Maybe I WILL finish with a decent time! I feel so much better now, and I’m really looking forward to tomorrow morning!
Coming closer, closer...
By this time tonight, the Do Life 5K run will be over and we’ll be carbing up. I’m really looking forward to this, getting quite excited!
I haven’t run since Monday, and that was only 1K following an 8K bike ride, and my legs were like jelly. Should’ve done some stretches between I guess? I’ve walked since then, but every once in awhile I get a stabbing pain in my...
In Victoria
I’m in Victoria now, visiting family. When I was at the airport I posted that I was going to Victoria and was still in pain. (Hips are killing me, painful to walk, IT band issues, yuck). I posted it from my iPhone but I see it didn’t get here, so I don’t know where it is, out in cyber space somewhere. Suffice it to say, I am here, but totally NOT feeling ready. I’ve had...
Aches and pains
I ran approximately 4K today, I say APPROX because my *bleep* Garmin was acting up again… Does that when the batteries are apparently getting low. It was asking if I was inside or outside, which sport I wanted to do: running? which I selected and pressed ENTER, then it went back to which sport do i want to do, and when I pressed ENTER it went to “running?” and when i pressed...
A week from now it's over!
Yep. A week from this moment I will have finished my third Victoria half marathon.
My left foot is still sore, so I figured I’d be cautious for one more day and ride the bike instead.
1:29:15 = 21.1K, on the bike.
I know some guys can run a full marathon in close to that, but that’s them and this is me!
I think I’ll run a bit tomorrow, and do some other leg-strengthening...
